Pelgrane Press seeks playtesters for Boundary of the Darkness, the Trail of Cthulhu sourcebook of dread investigation during England’s age of Enlightenment.
It presents two exciting campaign frames, ripped from the broadsheets of the 1770s:
Phil Masters’ In Lunar Service, in which the Investigators act as Secret Associates for Birmingham’s most notable thinkers, scientists and industrialists, from Erasmus Darwin to Josiah Wedgwood.
Sarah Saltiel’s Friends of Blue, where Investigators receive their occult-smashing assignments from leaders of the Blue Stocking Society, a salon of formidable women advancing the values of freedom and knowledge for all. Worthies like Elizabeth Montagu and Catharine Macaulay direct a chapter of the Known, an international organisation dedicated to battling cosmic horror in all its forms.
We’re looking for groups to test each frame, building characters using the included rules adaptations for 1770s play and then running the corresponding intro scenario.
For bonus points, you can also run the intro scenario for the other frame as a second adventure for the one you’ve chosen.
Let us know which of the frames you wish to test. We may ask you to test the other if everyone else has already nabbed your first choice.
We will supply you with the work-in-progress texts of Boundary of the Darkness and Trail of Cthulhu 2nd Edition.
Deadline for responses: June 30.
