Threat Intelligence Assessment – Black Stars Motorcycle Club

During the late 1960s, the convergence of geography, shared interests in anti-authoritarianism and drugs, as well as music and popular media brought outlaw motorcycle clubs (MCs) into cultural contact with the flower children of the Age of Aquarius. The arrival of outlaw MCs on the counterculture scene delivered an undercurrent of criminal nihilism and explosive violence perfect for the era of the Fall.

Profile

The Black Stars Motorcycle Club is a 1%, outlaw MC seemingly similar to other infamous MCs of the era, such as the Hell’s Angels, Mongols, and Banditos. Even by outlaw MC standards, the Black Stars are incredibly violent and earned the reputation as dangerous even among that community. Rumors persist about dark rites and even human sacrifice.

Affiliation

The BSMC is loosely affiliated with the Straight Satans MC (another 1% outlaw club) as a “nomad chapter”. They maintain no other alliances and reportedly barely recognize alliances their parent chapter holds. They have a reputation for unpredictable behavior, seemingly abiding by voices that only they can hear. While other criminal MCs occasionally “blood out” members – the process of beating and stripping the colors (gang jacket) from the member as an act of banishment from the club – for Black Stars members, there may be ways to join but there is no way to leave and survive.

Operational Area

The Black Stars MC claims no official territory but operates in southern California primarily from Los Angeles to Tijuana, Mexico. They have been seen along the length of the US Pacific Coast and as far north as the Salmo-Priest Wilderness near the Washington-Canadian border. The California Highway Patrol gives the club a wide birth, their reputation enough to keep even the police at bay as long as the BSMC does not actively pose a threat to the local community.

 

Organization

The MC appears to honor a formal, strictly enforced hierarchy. The club has a leader (see below), but smaller group rides are led by a road captain, nominally the highest-ranking member of the assembled group.

Current membership is estimated at 50-75 riders, largely disaffected and antisocial Korean War and Vietnam War veterans. Most have prior arrests for a litany of antisocial behaviors. We still do not understand recruitment methods, club patching requirements, or promotion through the ranks within the club.

We believe the Black Stars were founded and are currently led by Osborne Kupers. Kupers served in the Korean War (June 1950-July 1953) as a mortar gunner in the 1^st Marine Division (USMC) and fought at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir. His mortar team reportedly disappeared behind Chinese Communist lines during an assault wave, but he reappeared days later alone, wounded, and wearing what appeared to be a ragged Ottoman Army uniform.

Criminal Activities

The Black Stars follow a similar pattern to other outlaw motorcycle clubs regarding crime. Members engage in extortion, theft, narcotics, and arms trafficking as their primary funding sources. BSMC is the only known source of the powerful narcotic “Green Stuff,” prized by the most extreme members of other outlaw MCs and drug users.

Club Colors

A three-pointed faded gold crown above a “BLACK STARS” rocker, below which is a golden inverted pyramid punctuated by black stars and bisected by the silhouette of a black tower. Other standard “1%” and “MC” diamond patches flank the inverted pyramid.

∆ Case Officer and Above EYES ONLY

The Black Stars MC is a rolling Carcosan incursion. Prior incidents suggest that in the presence of more than a handful of riders, local reality is best described as ‘plastic’. They are to be neutralized whenever and however possible. The most extreme measures must be made to disappear and destroy the bodies, as past evidence suggests that BSMC members can home in on their deceased peers.

The threat of the Black Stars MC is best exemplified by the 1967 Vista Azul Event. What started as an all-chapter BSMC ride down Highway 1 south of Tijuana nearly ended with a dimensional crossover of Vista Azul, MX. Best evidence indicates that the presence of the full Black Stars MC plus some heretofore unknown activity they performed led to the small township being nearly overwhelmed by Carcosan energies and withdrawn from human geography and memory. Thanks only to the brave efforts of a hasty-organized operational team on the ground, Vista Azul remained in our reality. Nevertheless, sixteen civilians died with three times that number still missing and unaccounted for, including the entire team of skilled agents. The continued Carcosan infection within Vista Azul proved tenacious, persistent, and required multiple teams and extreme measures to finally eradicate [See file “Operation LICENSE” and “Operation REVOKE”].

The organization has lost multiple undercover agents and California Highway Patrol friendlies attempting to penetrate the organization. Even the most careful and experienced agents have been murdered, disappeared, or swallowed by the Black Stars. Photographic evidence suggests that more than one agent has been co-opted by the BSMC.

Hypergeometric Warning
We have confirmed evidence of BSMC riders using hypergeometry and leveraging human sacrifice, often drawing on energies of the “Yellow King” entity. BSMC leadership almost certainly has working knowledge of “See Through Dreaming Eyes” and “Derivé” [See file “The Borellus Connection”] rituals, but wise Case Officers know to be prepared for Black Stars’ riders armed with other hypergeometric capabilities.

Potential Sources of Information

Hunter S. Thompson – Author and reporter who rode with the Hell’s Angel’s while researching a book on them until he was “blooded out” of the MC. Thompson may know useful details about the BSMC if agents can convince the iconoclastic misanthrope to confide in them. Whether his information is factual, fictional, or fantastical is anyone’s guess, however.

Sonny Barger – Long-time president of the Hell’s Angels. A hard-nosed leader and felon as well as a shrewd operator, Barger will demand a quid pro quo with any agent that deals with him.
