13th Age 2E Errata & Typo Notes

[Crooked Dragon by Lee Moyer]

March 7, 2026

Here are the current corrections in the 2E PDFs. We’re keeping the PDFs up to date with errata and typo corrections. When we do a second printing of the 2E books we’ll fix these in print also.
We’re breaking these notes into three sections for each book.

  • Errata include mistakes affecting play. These are significant errors I’ve flagged in my own copy.
  • Typos include less significant mistakes that you’ll probably care about less.
  • Index errors you can skip over unless you’re frequently using the index to navigate. We’re listing them here so that sharp-eyed folks can see which errors have been called to our attention.

Heroes’ Handbook Errata

  • Page 94: In the Simple Faith sidebar, the cure wounds spell has to be replaced with mighty healing . . . we swapped those two spells between levels and forgot to update the sidebar.
  • Page 104: This is actual errata on the judgment spell: Its miss damage is supposed to be your level x 3 instead of just your level. The math apparently got lost because it was formatted as a math equation.
  • Page 142: As a clarification, we’ve added a clause to make it clear that animal companions are never considered staggered. Their hit point threshold isn’t the same as normal hit points, so they’re either in play or have taken enough damage to be driven away temporarily.
  • Page 148: The rogue’s Weapons chart shouldn’t give them two-weapon fighting. Rogues can get two-weapon fighting by taking the Rogue of Two-Weapons feat on page 154.
  • Page 160: d8 spear should have an asterisk after spear, like greatsword* in the sorcerer’s 2H melee weapon slot.
  • Page 192: Curse of greater pain is the first piece of the book that has actual errata, as written there were unfortunate interactions with magic missile. The text after the words necro damage needs to change, so that it reads like this: “. . . more necro damage every time the target is hit or missed by a natural 6+ attack roll (easy save ends, 6+).”
  • Page 212: The abbreviated version of the Mechanically Efficient feat is incorrect. Should actually say…. A: Resist necro and poison 16+ and less effect from being stunned.
  • Page 213: The tables shows a bard feat as “Endless Banter” but that’s the wrong name. It should be “Endless Patter.”
  • Page 301: There’s a reference to the old name of a class feature. The sentence that refers to “a troll-kin fighter using Aggression to roll 2d20s” needs to replace the word “Aggression” with the word “Momentum.”
  • Page 314: Text added to make it clear that the rogue is one of the classes that doesn’t start with two-weapon fighting.

Heroes’ Handbook Typos

  • Page iii: On the main credits page, there’s a new category added just above the Warriors of the Three: Some Monster Design is the credit line, and the two people who didn’t get the credit they deserved are Steven Warzeha and Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan.
  • Page iv: We missed an entire helpful playtest group: TSDE (Cody Swenbolt, Ellen Swenbolt, Roman Trevisanut, XZ-L, Anthony “Pao” Vaugh).
  • Page vii: Capitalize Karim in the backer couple credited as “Karim & Julia O. S.”
  • Page xii: In the Table of Contents, the example of play’s “Rallying, Smiting, Healing, and More” is actually on page 15, not page 14.
  • Page 98: We’re going to update the style guide to use a consistent pattern when we write things like Armor or Vestments. The ‘or’ will be lower-case and italicized. So the header on page 98 has to change, as does the all-caps version in the bullet points above the header. And the last words of the second paragraph under the header, just above the Armor entry.
  • Page 100: Similarly, all the entries in the Random Domain Table need to have the ‘or’ words italicized. (Happily, the headers containing the names of the domains are fine, they match the style we’ve decided on. For the record, I do not want to change the treatments in the Invocations, for instance, Invocation of Friendship/Love. Those are different, the same power applies no matter how you’ve phrased your domain.
  • Page 111: There’s now a period at the end of the italicized fighter flavor text.
  • Page 143: Towards the end of the epic animal companion feat, the power name “call them in” should be italicized.
  • Page 150: Another missing period added at the end of the first paragraph of the Rogue Class Features section.
  • Page 158: The Ok, Teamwork, OK power name is now standardized to use the same capitalization for both instances of OK.
  • Page 160: There was an extra ‘f’ in the staff at the bottom of the page.
  • Page 161: The sorcerer level progression table could lose its final column (Weapon Damage and HP Bonus etc.) to match every other level progression table. Strictly speaking it doesn’t matter, but it’s gone now.
  • Page 191: The rebuke spell has a parenthetical phrase in its attack line that needs to be removed: (no take 10).
  • Page 193: The denial spell also has that leftover parenthetical phrase in its attack line that needs to be removed: (no take 10).
  • Page 194: Same for the hold foe spell, the piece of the attack line that reads (no take 10) should be removed.
  • Page 214: the first paragraph of the Reloading section is missing a period at its end.
  • Page 309: The reference to the “Skilled Interceptor fighter talent” should be “Skilled Intercept fighter talent.”

Heroes’ Handbook Index

  • Page 320: the burrow entry should refer to GMG: 59, not HH: 59.
  • Page 321: The index entry for ‘combat assist’ is incorrect, it should be HH: 298.
  • Page 321: Confused should refer to HH: 309 instead of HH: 308.
  • Page 321: damage types should refer to HH: 58, not HH: 57.
  • Page 321: Similarly, dice rolling conventions should refer to HH: 57, not HH: 58.
  • Page 323: The entry for ‘gold piece rewards per arc option’ should refer to GMG: 171.
  • Page 324: the entry for ‘invocations’ should refer to HH: 99.
  • Page 325: the entry for ‘ongoing damage’ should refer to HH: 311.
  • Page 326: In the index (so same problem in GMG), Saves is indexed to page 310 but should link to page 311. It’s the same spread, but now we’ve corrected the linking.

Gamemaster’s Guide Errata

  • Page 60: The symbol of the High Druid has been misidentified as a second symbol of the Crusader. The symbol of the Lich King has been misidentified as a second symbol of the Diabolist.
  • Page 69: The subscript hit points on the dire rat mook presently say 7, but the right number for that subscript by HP is 8 for a first level mook. The actual hit points stay at 6, we just got the reference number wrong.
  • Page 110: The fire giant’s ranged attack should specify the targeting: (one nearby or far-away enemy).
  • Page 150: The skeletal hound’s toothy bite attack should specify that it is vs. AC.
  • Page 211: The Dire Rat of Unusual Size stat block has a layout error; the rat’s vicious instincts power should have its own space instead of looking like a triggered effect of the melee attack.

Gamemaster’s Guide Typos

  • Pages iii, iv, vii: Same corrections as in the Heroes’ Handbook credits.
  • Page 30: The period of the Dawn Age section is missing; there should be a period after Necropolis.
  • Page 105: Randomly appearing graphics problem with the ettin page that is only troubling some PDF pages.
  • Page 179: Remove the double you in the first sentence in the belt of endless battle.
  • Page 188: The phrase ‘end especially’ is meant to say, ‘and especially.’
  • Page 190: Capitalization haters have won and dwarven will now be lower-case.
  • Page 201: You’re directed to a map on page 202 but it’s on page 203.

Gamemaster’s Guide Index

  • Page 226: the burrow entry should refer to GMG: 59, not HH: 59.
  • Page 227: The index entry for ‘combat assist’ is incorrect, it should be HH: 298.
  • Page 227: Confused should refer to HH: 309 instead of HH: 308.
  • Page 227: damage types should refer to HH: 58, not HH: 57.
  • Page 227: Similarly, dice rolling conventions should refer to HH: 57, not HH: 58.
  • Page 229: The entry for ‘gold piece rewards per arc option’ should refer to GMG: 171.
  • Page 230: the entry for ‘invocations’ should refer to HH: 99.
  • Page 231: the entry for ‘ongoing damage’ should refer to HH: 311.
  • Page 232 index (same as the problem in HH): Saves is indexed to page 310, but those rules appear on page 311.
